Happy New Year to you all!  Spring 2011 sees some really exciting happenings at Urban Roots.  Designs are being made for a new growing space in Toryglen Park,  and volunteering sessions in our existing gardens are starting up soon (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Also,  we’re putting on a series of workshops over the next few months to help you grow your own food.

Starting on the 25th of January will be an 8 week evening class in how to grow your own food.  It will be a fun and informal class with practical activities and group work,  and should give you the basic skills to successfully grow your own food,  whether it be in a container on your window ledge,  or a whole field!

We’re also running some workshops at the weekend, the first one being “Orchard Care” on Saturday 19th of February from 10-4pm.  A full workshop programme will be posted soon.

All workshops are free and beginners welcome. If you’d like more information or to reserve your place please contact Roz,  0141 613 3763 or email roz@urbanroots.org.uk

Call out for Sessional Workers!

Fancy clocking up some experience working with groups in the gardens?

Think you can inspire schoolkids to get mucky?

We are looking to build up a base of sessional workers who can dip in and out of the garden groups,  or take on specific pieces of work as and when they arise.

If you’re interested please get in touch with abi@urbanroots.org.uk.

The system was used to power our very own Blossom Festival, and will be used for educational purposes during our climate change workshops,  it will also be made available to other groups and organisations throughout the city for hire –email abi@urbanroots.org.uk for info.
